Terms & Conditions

Knightsbridge Shutters

Online and remote sales of shutters, blinds and related window furnishings

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before placing an order. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to exclude or restrict any rights you may have under applicable Irish consumer protection law.

1. About Us

Knightsbridge Shutters is an Irish supplier of shutters, blinds, window coverings and related products and services.

In these Terms and Conditions:

“we”, “us” and “our” mean Knightsbridge Shutters.

“you” and “your” mean the person purchasing goods from us.

“Goods” or “Products” means the shutters, blinds, accessories and other products supplied by us.

“Order” means an order placed with Knightsbridge Shutters for Goods.

“Made-to-Measure Goods” means Goods manufactured, cut, altered or otherwise produced according to measurements, specifications, colours, configurations or other requirements selected or supplied by you.

2. Orders and Our Contract With You

When you place an Order, you are making an offer to purchase the Goods specified in that Order.

You are responsible for checking that all information supplied with your Order is complete and accurate, including:

  • product type;

  • dimensions and measurements;

  • colours and finishes;

  • opening or operating options;

  • quantities;

  • delivery details; and

  • any other product specifications selected by you.

Please check your Order confirmation carefully and contact us immediately if you believe anything is incorrect.

For Made-to-Measure Goods, manufacturing may commence shortly after an Order has been accepted. Your ability to change or cancel an Order may therefore be limited as explained in Section 5.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an Order where reasonably necessary, including where:

  • a Product is unavailable or has been discontinued;

  • we are unable to manufacture the Product requested;

  • there has been an obvious pricing or website error;

  • payment has not been successfully received;

  • delivery cannot reasonably be made to the requested location; or

  • information provided with the Order is incomplete or appears to be incorrect.

If we cancel an Order after receiving payment, we will refund the amount paid for the cancelled Goods, subject to your statutory rights.

3. Prices and Payment

All prices displayed on our website are in euro (€) unless otherwise stated.

Where applicable, prices include Value Added Tax (VAT) at the prevailing rate.

The total amount payable will be displayed before you complete your Order and/or confirmed in your Order confirmation.

Payment must be made using one of the payment methods made available by Knightsbridge Shutters at the time of purchase.

An Order will not normally proceed to manufacture until the required payment has been received.

We take reasonable steps to ensure prices displayed on our website are accurate. However, errors may occasionally occur.

Where an obvious pricing error has occurred, we reserve the right to contact you and give you the option of proceeding at the correct price or cancelling the affected Product or Order.

4. Made-to-Measure Products

Many of the Products supplied by Knightsbridge Shutters are manufactured specifically to your individual measurements and specifications.

Made-to-Measure Goods may include products manufactured according to your chosen:

  • width and height;

  • window dimensions;

  • frame dimensions;

  • shutter configuration;

  • panel configuration;

  • material;

  • colour;

  • finish;

  • louvre size;

  • opening direction;

  • control position; or

  • other individual specifications.

Because these Products are manufactured specifically for you, they may have little or no resale value to us.

You should therefore carefully check all measurements, specifications and selections before submitting your Order.
Where applicable law provides an exception from the statutory cancellation or withdrawal right for goods made to a consumer's specifications or clearly personalised, that exception may apply to Made-to-Measure Goods purchased from Knightsbridge Shutters.

This does not affect your statutory rights where Goods are faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or otherwise do not conform with the contract.

5. Changing or Cancelling an Order

5.1 Before Manufacture

If you wish to change or cancel an Order, please contact Knightsbridge Shutters as soon as possible after placing it.

Where manufacturing has not commenced and no non-recoverable costs have been incurred, we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request.

5.2 After Manufacture Has Commenced

If you wish to change or cancel an Order, please contact Knightsbridge Shutters as soon as possible after placing it.

Where manufacturing has not commenced and no non-recoverable costs have been incurred, we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request

If you contact us by telephone, email, website form, social media or another communication channel, we may keep a record of that communication.

5.3 Your Statutory Rights

Nothing in this section limits any cancellation, refund or other rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under Irish consumer protection law.

6. Measurements

6.1 Customer-Supplied Measurements

Where you provide the measurements for your Products, you are responsible for ensuring those measurements are correct.

Please follow our measuring instructions carefully before ordering.

If you are uncertain about how to measure your windows or openings, please contact Knightsbridge Shutters before placing your Order.

You must check all measurements shown in your Order confirmation.

Where Goods have been correctly manufactured according to measurements supplied or approved by you, we cannot normally accept responsibility simply because those measurements subsequently prove unsuitable for your window or opening.

Because Made-to-Measure Goods manufactured to incorrect customer-supplied measurements may not be capable of resale, they may not be eligible for return or refund solely because the measurements supplied by the customer were incorrect.

This does not affect your rights where Knightsbridge Shutters has failed to manufacture the Goods according to the measurements actually agreed with you.

6.2 Plans and Drawings

Measurements taken from architectural plans, building drawings or construction plans should be independently checked against the completed window or opening before an Order is placed.

Knightsbridge Shutters cannot be responsible for differences between measurements shown on plans and the dimensions of the completed building where the measurements used for the Order were supplied or approved by the customer.

6.3 Measurements Taken by Knightsbridge Shutters

Where Knightsbridge Shutters provides a professional measuring or survey service, responsibility for measurements taken by us will be dealt with separately from measurements supplied solely by the customer.

If we make a measurement error that causes Goods supplied by us not to fit as agreed, we will provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with your statutory rights.

7. Product Descriptions, Images, Samples and Colours

We make reasonable efforts to ensure that Product descriptions, photographs, illustrations and specifications on our website accurately represent our Products.

However, the appearance of colours, materials and finishes can vary depending on:

  • computer monitors;

  • mobile phone and tablet screens;

  • screen brightness and colour settings;

  • lighting conditions;

  • natural variations in materials; and

  • manufacturing batches.

We therefore recommend requesting and examining a physical sample, where available, before ordering colour-sensitive Made-to-Measure Goods.

A sample is intended to provide a reasonable indication of the Product's colour, texture and finish. Minor variations between samples and finished Products may occur, particularly with natural materials, wood-effect products, fabrics and products manufactured in different batches.

Such variations do not affect any statutory rights you may have where the Goods do not conform with the contract.

8. Product Dimensions and Manufacturing Tolerances

Shutters and blinds are manufactured products and may be subject to small manufacturing tolerances.

Minor variations that are normal for the type of Product and do not materially affect its appearance, operation or suitability may occur.

Where Products are designed to fit within or around an existing opening, allowances may also be required for installation, clearance, movement, frames, tracks, hinges or other components.

Any applicable deductions or allowances should be taken into account when measurements are submitted in accordance with our measuring instructions.

9. Delivery

We will deliver your Goods to the delivery address supplied with your Order.

You are responsible for ensuring that your delivery details are accurate.

Any delivery dates or lead times provided are estimates unless we expressly agree otherwise.

Made-to-Measure Goods may have longer lead times because they must be manufactured specifically for your Order.

We will make reasonable efforts to deliver within the estimated timeframe provided. However, circumstances outside our reasonable control may occasionally cause delays.

Where a third-party courier or freight company is used, we remain responsible for fulfilling our obligations to you in accordance with applicable law.

You should inspect packages as soon as reasonably possible following delivery and notify us promptly if:

  • an item is missing;

  • the incorrect Product has been delivered;

  • packaging is significantly damaged; or

  • the Product appears to have been damaged in transit.

10. Access and Large Products

Shutters and certain blinds can be large or bulky.

Before ordering, you are responsible for considering whether the Goods can reasonably be transported through any doors, hallways, stairways, lifts or other access points required to reach their intended location, unless Knightsbridge Shutters has expressly agreed to assess access as part of an installation service.

Additional costs resulting from unusual delivery requirements or access restrictions may be chargeable where these were not disclosed to us before the Order was placed, to the extent permitted by law.

11. Installation

Where Products are sold on a supply-only basis, installation is your responsibility.

Products should be installed in accordance with the instructions supplied and using appropriate fixings for the relevant wall, window frame or structure.

If you arrange for an independent third party to install the Goods, that installer is not an employee or agent of Knightsbridge Shutters unless we have expressly arranged or authorised that installation service.

Knightsbridge Shutters is not responsible for damage caused solely by incorrect installation, misuse, unauthorised modification or unsuitable fixings used by the customer or an independent installer.

This does not exclude responsibility for a defect that existed in the Product when supplied.

Where Knightsbridge Shutters agrees to provide installation as part of your Order, any additional installation terms communicated to you will also apply.

12. Child Safety

The safe installation and operation of blinds and window coverings is extremely important.

Where Products include cords, chains or other operating mechanisms, all child-safety devices supplied with the Product must be installed and used correctly.

Products should be installed and operated in accordance with all applicable safety instructions and relevant legal and product-safety requirements.

Never remove, disable or interfere with a safety device supplied with a Product.

13. Damaged, Faulty or Incorrect Goods

We take reasonable steps to inspect and quality-check our Products before dispatch.

If you believe Goods are:

  • damaged;

  • defective;

  • missing components;

  • incorrectly manufactured;

  • different from what you ordered; or

  • otherwise not in conformity with the contract,

please contact Knightsbridge Shutters as soon as reasonably possible.

We may ask you to provide photographs, videos, measurements or other reasonable information to help us assess the issue.

Where appropriate, we may also need to inspect the Product.

Depending on the circumstances and your statutory rights, an appropriate remedy may include repair, replacement, price reduction or refund.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits the remedies available to you under applicable Irish consumer protection law.

14. Returns

14.1 Made-to-Measure Goods

Made-to-Measure Goods are manufactured specifically to your requirements and may not be eligible for return simply because you change your mind, where the applicable legal exception for goods made to the consumer's specifications or clearly personalised applies.

This does not affect your rights in relation to faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or non-conforming Goods.

14.2 Non-Customised Goods

Where you purchase Goods that are not made to your specifications or clearly personalised, you may have statutory cancellation rights for distance contracts.

Where those rights apply, we will provide the information and remedies required by applicable Irish law.

14.3 Approved Returns

Before returning Goods, please contact Knightsbridge Shutters for instructions.

Goods should be packaged appropriately to prevent damage during transport.

The party responsible for return costs will depend on the reason for the return and your applicable statutory rights.

15. Consumer Rights

Knightsbridge Shutters supplies Goods in accordance with applicable Irish consumer protection law.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to exclude, restrict or otherwise prejudice any mandatory statutory rights available to consumers.

Where any provision of these Terms and Conditions conflicts with a mandatory consumer right, the applicable statutory consumer right will prevail.

16. Warranties

Any commercial warranty offered by Knightsbridge Shutters is provided in addition to, and does not replace or restrict, your statutory rights.

The duration and conditions of any applicable commercial Product warranty will be stated on our website, Product documentation, Order confirmation or warranty documentation.

A commercial warranty may not cover damage caused by matters such as:

  • incorrect installation by the customer or an unauthorised third party;

  • misuse or neglect;

  • accidental damage;

  • unauthorised alteration or repair;

  • failure to follow care or operating instructions; or

  • normal wear and tear,

where the relevant issue was caused by that matter.

17. Events Outside Our Reasonable Control

We will not be responsible for delay or failure to perform an obligation where this is caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, subject always to your statutory rights.

Such circumstances may include severe weather, transport disruption, industrial disputes, supply-chain disruption, fire, flood, natural disaster, governmental action or other events that we could not reasonably prevent.

If such an event materially affects your Order, we will contact you as soon as reasonably practicable and explain the available options.

18. Website Information

We take reasonable care to ensure information on our website is accurate and up to date.

However, occasional typographical, technical, pricing or Product-description errors may occur.

We may correct errors and update website information when necessary.

Nothing contained on our website is intended to exclude or override any legal obligation owed to a consumer.

19. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

In particular, nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits any mandatory rights or remedies available to consumers under Irish law.

To the extent permitted by law, Knightsbridge Shutters will not be responsible for losses caused solely by:

  • incorrect information or measurements supplied by the customer;

  • improper installation carried out independently of Knightsbridge Shutters;

  • misuse of a Product;

  • unauthorised alteration of a Product; or

  • failure to follow supplied instructions,

where Knightsbridge Shutters did not cause or contribute to that loss.

20. Privacy and Personal Information

We process personal information in connection with Orders, payments, deliveries, customer service and the operation of our business.

Further information about how Knightsbridge Shutters collects, uses, stores and protects personal data should be provided in our Privacy Policy.

Where marketing communications are sent, customers will be provided with an appropriate method of unsubscribing.

21. Complaints

We want to resolve any problems with your Order as quickly as possible.

If you have a complaint, please contact Knightsbridge Shutters using the contact details provided on our website.

Please provide your:

  • name;

  • Order number;

  • contact details;

  • description of the problem; and

  • photographs or other supporting information where relevant.

We will review your complaint and respond as soon as reasonably practicable.

22. Severability

If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be treated as removed or modified to the minimum extent necessary.

The remaining provisions will continue in effect.

23. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time.

The Terms and Conditions applicable to your purchase will normally be those in effect when your Order is placed, subject to any changes required by law.

The latest version will be published on our website.

24. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Ireland.

If you are a consumer, nothing in this section deprives you of any mandatory protections available to you under applicable consumer law.
